The Tower Hamlets and Hackney Film Fund

Film FundTower Hamlets and Hackney Film Fund will be open from Monday 5th September. Applications to the fund are invited from teams of producers, directors and writers who live or work in the London Borough's of Tower Hamlets or Hackney. Deadline for ALL applications: Friday 2nd December 2005

The Tower Hamlets and Hackney Film Fund seeks to promote and develop filmmaking in the London Borough's of Tower Hamlets and Hackney by offering financial support, professional development and advice from media professionals direct to new talent. Through being part of Film London East, the award creates a local network to assist emerging as well as established film business's to develop a sustainable industry.

The Tower Hamlets and Hackney Film Fund, supports new and emerging filmmakers through awards of up to £4000, for short fiction, animations or documentaries. Applications can be made with match funding attached however must be proved before a commission can be awarded.

This year the fund will award up to 7 film bursaries not exceeding £4000. There will be 4 bursaries awarded from Tower Hamlets and 3 from Hackney. We will accept applications from all genres inc fiction, documentary and animation. Films can be produced on all formats (digital, film and computer) but must demonstrate reasons for the use of that media. The film fund is looking for original and exciting stories told with a fresh individual voice.

To make an application you will need to submit

  • a completed application form (not available until 5th September)
  • a treatment
  • a script
  • a production schedule
  • a budget
  • a CV for each member of the team


You May also include any other supporting material that would assist your application: show reel, storyboards, photographs etc.

An Application seminar (time and venue TBC) will accompany the fund.
