Pulse

The Pulse Festival 2006
running from the 5th - 27th of May is a spring festival
that promotes the best of East and Central European music
and culture from Slovakia, Hungary, Poland and the Czech
Republic.
Launched last year, Pulse Festival 2006 is broadening and
extending its musical coverage, featuring talents from the
jazz, dance, and classical music world so that music-loving
Londoners will be able to find something to suit their tastes.
The festival will take place in a range of venues across
London. East London venues include Cargo and Spitalfield's
The Spitz.
Musical
highlights will include Piano Eccentric, a Pulse festival
strand dedicated to piano music particularly how the contemporary
piano keyboard is able to fuse classical, jazz and folk
music. Also to look out for are young talents such as Slovakian
cellist Michal Stahel who will be accompanied by pianist
Jordana Palovicova as well as more established names such
as Marian Varga, the Skuta Trio, a jazz ensemble featuring
the outstandind Slovakian drummer Martin Valihora as well
as Dikanda who will be playing their Polish brand of world
music with vocalists Ania Witczak and Kasia Dzuibak.

Supporting the music festival will be a Photographic Exhibition
on national identity featuring a host of Central European
photographers (refer to ArtEast section).
